Homework
Students should be reading 20-30 minutes each night. In addition to this, students may choose to take home their math sheet from their workbook. Reading can be done on the weekends to accommodate busy schedules.
Students are responsible for writing down homework and other reminders in their agenda each day. Please initial your child’s agenda each night to let me know you are aware of your child’s assignments and that you have checked for notes from teachers. They are also a good way for you to communicate with me if you need to write me a note or ask a question.

Attendance
We encourage excellent attendance! Please try to schedule doctors appointments after school whenever possible. If your child misses school or if you know that you'll be gone for any reason, please write me a note in his/her agenda or send me an email. The office requests that parents write a separate note of explanation on the day their child returns to school so that the absence can be coded as excused or unexcused.
You can email the explanation of the absence to one of our two secretaries: Mrs. Buckley at [email protected] or Sherri Pizzuti at [email protected].

Water Bottles and Snacks
We eat lunch early, so your child will need to pack a snack everyday. Please try to send healthy snacks, i.e. crackers, pretzels, etc.
Please be aware of the following rules regarding water bottles in the classroom:
1. Water only - no flavored or carbonated waters or juices
2. Water should not be frozen - bottles sweat, leaving moisture on desktops and classroom materials
3. Bottles are to go home daily (for sanitation reasons)

Birthday Celebrations
Students always enjoy celebrating birthdays at school. Some parents want to bring in additional birthday treats for the students to enjoy. If you would like to bring in store bought treats (such as cupcakes, donuts, popsicles, etc.) and distribute them in the cafeteria during our lunch time, that would be great! If your child's birthday falls on a weekend, holiday, teacher workday, or a summer month, you can email me and let me know what would work best for you.
** Students in our classrooms may have specific allergies and other medical considerations, so please let me know if you are planning to bring in a special treat.
